BACKGROUND INFORMATION:

WASP provides a place where people with addiction and their families
can take the first step to find the expert support and advice, they
need. For those living close to a dependant drug/alcohol user it often
seems that support is focused on the user, when in fact it transcends
like a vapour through the whole family and more importantly the
children and right out into the community.

WASP provides on-going drug and alcohol specific family support (for
parents/partners and children) in the D6W, 8, **Apply on the

WASP has developed a unique family support model of practise aligned
to the National Rehabilitation Framework and Reducing Harm Supporting
Recovery National Strategy.  WASP provides a suite of family support
specific services, which include treatment interventions and
signposting, family mediation, evidence based psychoeducational family
support programme, case management, key working, addiction related
counselling, court accompaniment, education workshops.  Drug Debt and
Drug related intimidation  with the support of Garda Intimidation
Officers, WASP provides information and  supports families with drug
related intimidation issues.

THE ROLE:

The Community Safety & Intimidation Support Worker will be based at
the WASP premises in Rathfarnham but will be required to provide
support and liaison services throughout the Tallaght Drugs and Alcohol
Task Force (TDATF) catchment area. The position is full-time (**Apply
on the website** hours per week) with a contract for **Apply on the
website** months. Some evening and weekend work and outreach activity
will be required.

The Support Worker will under the direction of the WASP Service
Manager coordinate the activity of the Department of Justice Community
Safety Policy within the TDATF catchment in the delivery of practical
support and early intervention to individuals and families affected by
addiction and its consequences and provide for coordination between
State and local services in delivery of safer communities.

THE KEY DUTIES OF THE POSITION WILL INCLUDE: -

* The provision of early response to individuals and families
requiring support with issues of safety arising from addiction

* Develop and provide liaison with

* State Services – Gardai, HSE, Local Authority, The Court Service,
etc
* Local Services – Medical & Hospital Services, Social Services,
etc
* Community Support - TDAFT local community projects, etc
* Other professionals and organisations providing services focussed
on the combat of alcohol & substance abuse, domestic abuse, youth
crime, and anti-social behaviour in providing for safer communities.

* Facilitating meetings of support workshops and case conferences
* Engaging with and promoting Best Practice and Initiatives on
Safety for individuals and families and within communities

IN ADDITION, THE TEAM LEADER WILL TAKE DIRECTION FROM THE WASP SERVICE
MANAGER AND WILL BE REQUIRED TO PREPARE AND PROVIDE:

* Monthly activity and statistical reports.
* Compile and maintain relevant case reports.

The successful applicant will be required to be proficient in the
provision of client support and accordingly, will be qualified in
delivery of the 5 Step Method as promoted by the National Family
Support Network. Knowledge of the Smart Recovery programme is also
desirable.

As the position requires significant multi-agency interaction
excellent communication skills and computer skills are required.
Experience in this area is also desirable.

As the position will require a reasonable amount of travel the use of
a car and a full driving licence is required. A reasonable amount of
evening and weekend working will be required.
